🔗 Applying to a Job You Found Somewhere Else

How to paste a job link into Sprout and apply to it, even if the role never appeared in your feed.

Found a role on a company careers page, or somewhere else entirely? You don't have to apply to it by hand. Paste the link into Sprout and it will pull the job in so you can apply with your Sprout documents like any other listing.

🔗 How to import a job

From the Jobs page:

  1. Choose Import Job

  2. Paste the full link to the job posting

  3. Submit

On a narrower screen the button shows as a link icon with no text, so look for that rather than the words.

Use the link to the job posting itself, not a search results page or a company's general careers index: something shaped like company.com/careers/job-title. The more directly it points at the role, the better the import.

⏳ What happens next

Most jobs import in a few moments, and you can apply straight away.

Some take longer. If it does, you'll see a message saying we'll notify you when it's ready. You can close the dialog and carry on. Sprout will let you know when the job is available.

If the same job is already being imported, Sprout recognises it and won't import it twice.

⚡ Does importing use credits?

Importing a job is free. Credits are only used when you actually apply, exactly as they are for jobs that appear in your feed.

⚠️ If the import fails

Not every link can be imported. The most common reasons:

  • The posting is behind a login: if the page can't be read without signing in, Sprout can't read it either

  • The role has been taken down: expired listings often still have a live URL

  • The link isn't a job posting: a search page or careers homepage won't work

Sprout will tell you what went wrong when it can. It's worth trying the original source. A role you found through an aggregator often imports more cleanly from the company's own careers page.

✅ "You've already applied to this"

If you see this, the job was already in Sprout and you applied to it previously, possibly without realising it was the same role under a different listing. You'll find it in your application history:

❓ Still have questions?

If a job you've imported isn't appearing, or the details came through wrong, reply here with the link and someone from the Sprout team will take a look.
