Why We Only Accept PDF Resumes (and How to Save Yours as One) 📄

Why Sprout requires PDF resumes, and how to save yours as a PDF from Word or Google Docs.

To ensure your resume looks exactly the way you intended and can be properly parsed by our system, Sprout only accepts resumes in PDF format.

❓ Why Only PDFs?

  • ✅ Consistent formatting: PDFs preserve your layout no matter what device or software is used

  • 🤖 Better for AI parsing: PDFs are structured in a way that helps our system extract your info cleanly

  • 🚫 Fewer upload issues: Word or Pages files can break or upload incorrectly — PDFs are more stable

💡 How to Save Your Resume as a PDF

From Google Docs:

  1. Open your resume in Google Docs

  2. Click File > Download > PDF Document (.pdf)

  3. 📥 The PDF will download - upload that one to Sprout

From Microsoft Word:

  1. Open your resume in Microsoft Word

  2. Click File > Save As (or Export)

  3. Choose PDF (*.pdf) from the dropdown

  4. 💾 Save and upload that version
