If you're seeing an unfamiliar email address on your job applications, that's intentional. Sprout applies on your behalf using a dedicated address rather than your everyday one, and there are two kinds you might see. 📬
💡 Which address will I see?
Gmail connected. Applications go out from an alias of your own address, in the form
[email protected].Gmail not connected. Sprout creates a unique
@whisperpost.ioaddress for you.
Both work exactly the same way. Employer replies arrive in your personal inbox, and every message is tracked in the app under Applications → the job → Inbox.
⚠️ You may see both addresses across your applications, and that's normal. Connecting Gmail applies to applications sent afterwards, so anything you applied to before that keeps the address it originally used. Everything carries on working either way.
📬 Will I still get updates?
Yes, either way. You'll get:
Employer replies in your personal email inbox
A record of every message for each application in the app's per-job Inbox
Verification codes and portal setup links handled for you during the application, since we can read either address
You can reply to employers normally and your reply reaches them.
📍 Which address did this application use?
Open the Applications tab, tap the application, and select Application from the options. The address is shown under Application Credentials.
🔗 Connecting Gmail
On web: click your name at the top left, then Account, then Connect Gmail
On mobile: tap the settings icon at the top right, then Connect Gmail
🔍 I got a notification but can't find the email
Start in the app, under Applications → the job → Inbox. That holds everything received for that application.
If it isn't in your personal inbox either, check which address the application used (see above), then search your mailbox for to: followed by that address. If you're on Gmail, set the search scope to All Mail so it covers Spam, Trash, and anything archived.
If it turns up outside your inbox, have a look at Settings → Filters and Blocked Addresses for a rule catching mail to that address.
If it's in neither place, reply here with the job title, the company, and roughly when the notification arrived, and we'll check what was received on our side.
🔐 Is this secure?
Either address is unique to you, and we use it only to manage and monitor your application activity so nothing gets missed.
