🔔 Managing Your Notifications

How to choose which Sprout notifications you get and whether they arrive by email, push, or in the app.

Sprout can tell you when an employer replies, when your documents are ready, or when something needs your attention. You control which of those you hear about and how they reach you.

⚙️ Where to change them

Web: go to Settings → Notifications.

Mobile: go to Profile → Settings → Notifications.

📋 What you can turn on and off

There are four categories, and you can set each one independently:

  • Application Updates: interview invitations, job offers, rejections, and confirmations that an application was submitted

  • Email Activity: new emails from employers and recruiters

  • Document Ready: when your resume or cover letter has been generated and is ready to review

  • Resume Gap Questions: when there are questions waiting for you to answer

If you only want one, Application Updates is the one to keep. That's where interview invitations land.

📬 How they reach you

Each category can be delivered by:

  • Email: to the address you signed in with

  • Push: a notification on your phone

  • In-app: the notification feed inside Sprout

Turning off email for a category doesn't turn off push, and vice versa. They're separate switches, so you can have interview invitations push to your phone while everything else stays quietly in the app.

🔕 I'm not getting notifications

Work through these in order:

  1. Check the category is on in Sprout's notification settings, for the channel you're expecting

  2. Check your phone's permissions: if you declined notifications when you first installed Sprout, push won't arrive no matter what the app says. On iOS: Settings → Notifications → Sprout. On Android: Settings → Apps → Sprout → Notifications

  3. Check your spam folder for email notifications, and mark them as not spam so future ones arrive

Worth knowing: notifications are a convenience, not the system of record. Employer replies always land in the application's own inbox whether or not you were notified, so if you think you've missed something, look there.

📢 I'm getting too many

If you're applying at volume, Email Activity and Document Ready are usually the noisy ones. Turning those off (or leaving them in-app only) keeps your inbox calm without losing the notifications that matter.

Turning notifications off doesn't affect your applications in any way. Nothing stops being sent, and nothing stops arriving.
